Where are the courses held?
The classes are held in selected locations across the Perth Metro area, including the CBD, the Western Suburbs, Fremantle and South Perth.
Where are private tuition sessions held?
The tutor provides private tuition in local libraries and community spaces near you, as mutually agreed by the tutor and student.
When do the courses run?
The courses run during term time (except for the school holiday workshops which are on select dates of the school holidays).
How often do the courses run?
The courses run as soon as there are the minimum number of students registered to run the course.
Who are the tutors?
The tutors at Disco Nosco are qualified tutors, have a WWC check, and are passionate about Latin and the benefits of learning ancient languages.
How many students can I expect there to be in an average class size?
The class size can range from 2 to 10 students.
What materials will I need for the courses and workshops?
Your tutor will provide all the Latin learning materials. Please come with a pen, notebook and open mind!
What materials do I need for private tuition?
Your tutor will provide all the learning materials for the sessions, but as you progress, you may wish to source extra learning materials and books, as recommended by your tutor. Please come with a pen, notebook and open mind!
Do I need a Latin dictionary?
Your tutor will provide you with the necessary vocabulary lists, and so you do not need to bring a Latin dictionary to the class. If you are interested in exploring Latin language further, however, there are plenty of online dictionaries and your tutor can direct you towards which hard copy dictionaries to obtain if you want to get one.
I'm not good at languages, should I still try one of the Latin courses?
Absolutely! These classes are focused on the cognitive benefits of learning Latin as a mental exercise, and are suitable for all abilities.
Learning Latin has sometimes had an aura of elitism surrounding it, how does Disco Nosco dispel this?
